Tips On Saving Your Marriage
An
ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure this saying has a
lot of truth not only concerning your physical health but the
health of many other areas of your life. Saving your marriage is
probably high on your priority list and belongs into the
category of prevention.
The above saying can very well be applied where a couple’s
commitment is concerned. To keep your relationship strong and
vibrant it is important to put strategies into place. It is
important that you look at a variety of tips on saving your
marriage so that it does not become fractured or irreparable.
Saving your marriage means committing yourself on maintaining
the flame of passion for each other as well as the continuation
of communicating with each other. What is the meaning of
maintaining the flame of your passion? This simply means to
always court each other and do things for each other that were
once done before you exchanged marriage vows.
Another tip on saving your marriage is taking time for each
other. Having a date with each other is so much fun. Or do
something unexpected for each other, little gestures, breakfast
in bed, taking the rubbish out, holding the door etc. Those
little gestures speak volumes about enjoying each other’s
company.
Communicating is paramount on saving your marriage. I am not
talking about chit chat or superficial conversation but really
talking with each other. And what is really important LISTENING
and not interrupting. True communication between a married
couple needs to be an open and honest dialogue, free of judgment
and with great respect for each other. Express your feelings. If
there is anything you don’t like or do not appreciate in the
other communicate it. Through communication you avoid a lot of
misunderstandings.
Let’s say the wife says she does not appreciate being called a
nagging housewife when she asked for some chore to be done. The
husband needs to listen without replying with some sort of
criticism or defense, but rather acknowledge that this comment
hurt the wife and honor her feelings and not use this expression
in the future anymore.
This little
tip on saving your marriage works truly well. You can show that
you were really listening by paraphrasing what has been said and
verbalize that thought back to the person to make sure that what
you heard was correct and accurate.
